Dr. Edward Fody always had an interest in science and was intrigued by the study of cancer. While at the University of Wisconsin, he studied the impact of chemical compounds on cancer therapy, and upon becoming a physician continued that work. The highlight of Dr. Fody’s career has been building new pathology laboratories at three hospitals. In this venture, he made personnel changes and oversaw the building of the new laboratories to ensure the labs would be state-of-the-art. Dr. Fody is proud that all of the laboratories are still serving patients. Since 2013, he has provided his skills and expertise as a pathologist for Holland Hospital. From 2004 to 2013, he provided his skills and expertise at the hospital as the Chief of Pathology of the Western Michigan Pathology Associates. He has previous experience in pathological medicine with Erlanger Medical Center, Bethesda Hospital and the Veterans Affairs Hospital in Arkansas. In addition to these roles, Dr. Fody has taught generations of future medical professionals at the University of Arkansas Medical School and the University of Texas Medical School.
Dr. Fody’s own academic pursuits start at Duke University, whereupon he earned a Bachelor of Science in 1969. He continued at the University of Wisconsin, receiving a Master of Science in 1971. In 1975, he earned an MD from Vanderbilt University. He continued with a residency in pathology at Vanderbilt University. He is a diplomate of the American Board of Pathology. In addition to his research, education and clinical work, Dr. Fody authored and edited “Clinical Chemistry” in 1984.
